Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
General Q&A
Q: What is Drop & Chop?
A: Drop & Chop is a web service which takes your design templates and transforms them into valid w3c standards compliant CSS/XHTML web pages. We are very efficient at what we do and offer a product that is by bar, hand over fist, better than our competitors. We never try to up sale or offer you better code for more money, all code we produce is top quality! Therefore, you're not paying extra to get good code.
Q: What hours are you available?
A: Our standard work schedule is Monday thru Friday 9am to 8pm PST and weekends when necessary. However, usually there is someone available at all times to respond to e-mails.
Q: How does your "24 Turnaround" work?
A: Before we start chopping up your designs we require 50% of your total balance to be paid, once this happens we start the XHTML templating process. Your files will be ready within 24 hours from the moment you pay. This is also true for the 3 day option.
Q: What is a subpage and how much does one cost?
A: Subpages are additional pages with a different layout than the homepage. They follow a similar structure to your homepage but are meant for content. Each subpage of your original template costs $50. If it doesn't resemble the original template we would need to discuss additional work and charges.
Q: Do you do custom designs?
A: Yes we do, and we're really good at! But seriously, we can work up a quote for custom work and get started quickly. If you're interested contact us and get started right away. (prices vary depending on the complexities of the site)
Q: How do you comment the code?
A: All files have comments imbedded in them and code is indented in a way that makes it easy to read. All CSS classes and ID's, as well as images, follow a easy to understand naming convention that makes it simple to find what you're looking for.
Q: Do you have examples of your work?
A: If you would like to see examples of work we've performed please contact us and we would be more than happy to show you some live examples.

Q: When do I pay?
A: We require 50% of the total invoice up front. This is to ensure you are serious and have the means to pay for our services. After we have received payment we will begin creating your new site. Then, once your files are complete and you're happy with our work, you'll pay the remaining balance and receive a Zip file in your email with short instruction on how to get started adding content.
Q: Do you offer refunds?
A: We do not offer refunds. Once we have started investing time into your project the initial 50% payment is non refundable. If you're not satisfied with the quality of the code we will continue to work on it until you are. If for some reason you need to stop the project you will not be charged the remaining balance but do forfeit the deposit
Files & Design Templates
Q: What information do you need to get started?
A: It is always good to be descriptive about the way you would like your template sliced and coded (i.e. hover states, fonts etc.). This helps us complete your project faster and ensure you are getting what you want from the beginning. Also, be sure to include the following as the minimum:
- Source: Make sure you send us the source file of your template, preferably in PSD (Photoshop) or AI (Illustrator).
- Fonts: If your project uses custom fonts in your source, please be sure to include them or we will substitute accordingly.
- Rollovers (hover state): Your web site may have image or CSS rollovers on certain elements such as the navigation or links in your content, include any images or hex color codes that you want with those rollovers. As well, tell us which color or image goes with which state (i.e. resting, hover).
- Other : If you have any specifics that you want implemented let us know ahead of time. For example, you might want a fixed or fluid layout.
Q: What source files should I send?
